Vandalism at Dane Valley allotments

In recent months there has been an outbreak of problems with anti-social behaviour down the Dane Valley allotments. While attending an event with the Dane Valley Woods association this morning, I noticed that there were police there, and it was mentioned that there had been some trouble the previous night.

It would appear that sometime around 2 o'clock in the morning a group of people broke into the allotments and caused lots of damage. Paint was thrown over properties, doors were kicked in, and possessions were scattered around and broken. This group of criminals also tried to set alight to several of the sheds on the allotments and eventually succeeded in setting alight to the compost toilet (the charred remains are pictured below). The fire brigade were called out to deal with the fire and the police have been looking for forensic evidence.

This was targeted vandalism and there is no place for this in our community. The people who own the allotments put their time and money into their plots, and for someone else to come in and mindlessly ruin it is unacceptable. If anyone saw anything connected with the incident or has any information they should contact the police so that the criminals responsible for this can be brought to justice.
